Cloud based recommendation engine makes award winning food website epicurious the most helpful platform for home cooks.
Cloud based & machine learning algorithms
The award-winning platform epicurious, owned by internationally renowned lifestyle publisher Condé Nast, redesigned and reengineered their complete website and all mobile platforms. Condé Nast engaged UI Centric to develop an intelligent and unique feature that helps users across platforms to get personalized recipe recommendations out of a database of over 30,000 tried and tested recipes from professional chefs and home cooks. This Azure based recommendation engine makes connections between recipes and ingredients and was developed with intelligent machine learning algorithms to constantly improving it's recommendations over time.
Intelligent recipe recommendations
On top of searching through categories and navigating to recipes directly, user are not able to use an intelligent recommendation widget on the new epicurious website to find recipes they want to cook. To get suggestions users simply rate five random recipes and state if they would cook them or not. The widget communicates the results to the cloud based ( Microsoft Azure) recommendation engine, which compares 30,000 recipes and is able to make close connections to other ingredients and recipes and finally suggests five personalized recipes.
